2nd place at Microgravity University for Educators (MgUE) Design Proposal to Develop a Satellite Launching Experimental Device (SLED)
Submission of design proposal to build a Satellite Launching Experimental Device (SLED) coded to autonomously deploy a mock satellite into a moving, targeted zone that mimics a Mars orbital insertion. Team proposal was reviewed for technical and educational merit.
Semifinalist Research Presentation in Symposium
Recognition to honor outstanding achievement in STEM as demonstrated by the presentation of an independent research investigation in the PRJSHS Regional Symposium.
Outstanding Academic Excellence
This award is part of the President’s Education Awards Program (PEAP) through the US Department of Educations and the national associations of school principals (NAESP, NASSP). This award is a commendation and validation of academic success for homeschooled students and will be a noteworthy accomplishment on a student’s record or personal resume.
National Science Foundation Scholarship
The Program for Engineering Access, Retention, and LIATS Success (PEARLS) is a college-wide initiative sponsored by the National Science Foundation and enabled through the project “Recruiting, Retaining, and Engaging Academically Talented Students from Economically Disadvantaged Groups into a Pathway to Successful Engineering Careers“, directed at helping bachelor’s and master’s level students in all engineering disciplines to successfully complete their study programs and transition into professional life.
Design Competition Finalist
Final scores were based on a two-pronged evaluation of each team’s 15-page technical paper and 50-minute presentation during the virtual forum. As first place & best in theme (South Pole Multi-Purpose Rover), was awarded with guaranteed presentation slots at the virtual ASCEND 2020 Conference.
NASA MUREP Stipend (Minority University Research and Education Project)
Through MUREP, NASA provided financial assistance throughout NASA's OSTEM Fall Internship at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC).
